You may or may not have come to our May 17th showcase of emerging artists which got raves from everybody we heard from, and was one of my favorite shows of the year, but either way you've got another chance to see three GREAT acts who, in my humble opinion, will be heard from in a big way in the future. For the modest price of $22 in advance (or $7.33 per act) you can spend an evening in what I describe as "the musical future" at The Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair.

TRI-BILL featuring
JAMMIN' DIVAS, BOBTOWN & TALL HEIGHTS
$22 in advance, $27 day of show

Friday, June 7, 2013 at 8 PM

The Jammin Divas are Aoife Clancy (IRE) Grammy Nominee with Cherish the Ladies, Becky Chace (USA), Kath Buckell (AUS), flutist Hadar Noiberg (ISR) and Craig Akin (USA) on Bass blend stunning renditions of traditional and contemporary original folk music and elements of improvisation from each of their cultures. Through stunning three part harmonies bedded against the plush melodic landscape of the flute and double bass, The Jammin' Divas draw the audience into an experience that transcends three continents history by sharing songs and stories of how each country culturally influence and enrich one another.

Drawing on field hollers, gospel music, folk songs, pop melodies and bluegrass harmonies, Bobtown reinvents American choral music for the 21st century to create a unique and compelling blend of voices and instruments that move gracefully between elegy and celebration. "Among oldtime Americana bands, no one has better original songs than Bobtown."-New York Music Daily

Boston-based duo Tall Heights has been headlining packed houses across New England, performing alongside national acts like David Wilcox and have toured down to Austin, TX to showcase at South by Southwest Music Festival. After two powerful EPs, Tall Heights is releasing their first full-length effort Man of Stone (May 2013). "...if you still remember how happy yours ears were when you first listened to Bon Iver or Arcade Fire and realized you'd stumbled into singer/songwriter oblivion...you can trust me when I say this.

You weren't there when I saw Corinne Bailey Rae perform in a book store and had a cup of coffee and talked about music with her, or saw 16 year old Joss Stone open for Raul Midon and told her she was going to be big, or saw Norah Jones for free in a downtown bar and sat at the bar chatting after the set. You weren't there because you didn't know who these artists were when I did those things.

Maybe you saw Delta Rae on one of their two appearances on Leno or heard their new single, released last week with guest guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. We had them in Woodbridge for free.....twice!!!! Had them in Montclair too! Let's just say that ship has sailed. On June 7th you have another chance to see bands that other people will be talking about in a year or two

Hank Roth, of Oakland, NJ, the beloved husband of Emilie and father of Daniel, Alexander, and Wesley, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2013. Hank was an Outpost volunteer, a music-lover (John Lennon and Jerry Garcia were two of his favorites), an avid sports fan, and skier. Born in Jamaica, NY, Hank graduated from Syracuse University and the SUNY School of Environmental Science. He was a master craftsman, carpenter, and general contractor by trade and the owner of Greyhawk Construction for 25 years.

The Outpost is pleased to present this concert to honor the memory of Hank and to support Emilie (also an Outpost volunteer) and her family during this very difficult time.
