Delta Rae: Feb 27th @ Rockwood Music Hall

Within the last year I've discovered North Carolina based Delta Rae and Canadian folk duo Dala. You will be seeing those names often in the upcoming few years. Two new favorites of mine. Absolutely amazing, but don't take my word for it, see for yourself: (Kayne cover)

Their blend of country, gospel, blues, pop and rock, along with some really diverse covers (Kayne, Adele...) was one of the best shows I've seen in some time.

Lizz Wright: Feb 13th @ Highline Ballroom

Probably my favorite contemporary female vocalist, her most recent release gives a nod to her gospel roots but she also does jazz, folk, rock and blues. I've reviewed her so many times that I'll just leave it with my opening statement, she's probably my favorite contemporary female vocalist. (video)

Jill Hennesey: Feb 1st @ Rockwood Music Hall

Best known for her TV work (Law and Order, Crossing Jordan...), but she's also a pretty good country flavored singer songwriter. I've seen her a few times before and I believe if she had never been an actress, she likely could have easily had a career in music. (video)

Sahara Smith: Feb 1 @ The Living Room

Young Texas singer songwriter has a new CD, Myth of the Heart, produced by T-Bone Burnett. He says she's his best new find in 25 years. This set included original material and some covers, like this Neil Young tune: (video)
